Turkey Time

For those of you who don't know, my dad is a turkey farmer. I absolutely loved growing up on a farm. I got to see and experience things that a lot of people don't get the opportunity to. I will admit that when I was younger there were days I didn't appreciate the hard work I was being taught but as I look back now it has been a huge influence on who I am and how I act. My dad is the epitome of a hard worker and I have loved working with him and my family on the farm. It has brought us closer as a family and helped us all to have a good work ethic.

Several times a year my dad gets a new shipment of turkeys. They come on a big semi and he usually gets around 30,000 in a shipment...yes that is what I said, 30 thousand turkeys. They come when they are a day old and are the cutest things ever!! This January I went down on my day off to help him get a shipment. Getting new turkeys is my favorite part of being on a turkey farm. It is hotter than Hades in those coops when they come because the temp has to be around 85 to 90 degrees to keep them happy and healthy. Here are a few pics of my trip down...i'm sad I didn't take any with my dad, next time I guess.
Thanks dad for being the best example of a hard worker!!!!

The turkeys come in these crates stacked up
There so fluffy!!!!!
I know I look like a dork and i'm sweating like crazy, but look how cute that little chick is
